about

"‘3D’ is a collaboration album between a Bristol-based duo; the awesomely-named producer Ded Tebiase and rhyme-henchman Javier SMI. This album was a year in the making and despite living in the same city, they never actually recorded in the same studio at the same time during the creation of it. You wouldn’t think so by listening to it though. The pair produce a hazy chemistry that sounds as if Javier was born to bless Ded’s dusted-out grooves. This is Bristol flavored hip-hop with a more subtle flex than the ‘in-your-face’ imagery from the likes of Split Prophets or the squeaky-clean, new-school sounds of many of the City’s other cross-genre rappers. This duo takes funky elements with a far more laid-back aesthetic, serving up ‘Tribe Called Quest-type of headnodding rythms, unmistakably ‘hip-hop’ in pace and tone, but with an added layer of static." - WORDPLAY MAGAZINE
